Jeff Davis
Jeff was born in Los Angeles and has been a resident of Manhattan Beach since 1988.  He is a founding board member, concerned since its inception primarily with financial aspects of the temple.  Jeff has a vision of TSSB as a vibrant and respected Jewish community, with congregants that share close personal relationships.  Jeff's eldest daughter Megan and son Brett celebrated their b'nai mitzvah at TSSB, and his daughter Emma will become bat mitzvah in 2014.

Irv Edwards
Irv was born and grew up in Canada.  He obtained his Bachelor's Degree from McGill University and his Medical Degree from the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. He came to Los Angeles to pursue his interest in Emergency Medicine and interned at Los Angeles County Hospital. In 1989, Dr. Edwards founded and remains President of Emergent Medical Associates, a leading provider of emergency care and episodic care management services to patients, communities, physician groups and hospitals throughout California.  Irv has lived in Manhattan Beach for 33 years.  His son Matthew is completing his second year at the University of Denver. Steven has chosen Tulane University and will be a biology and business major this fall. Meghan is attending Rolling Hills Prep and continues her love of Soccer, Skiing and Water sports.

Ron Harrison, President
Ron is a native of the South Bay and currently resides in Hermosa Beach with his wife Stacy and their two children Samantha and Ethan.  Ron is an executive with Anthem in their pharmacy services division, where he has been for the past eight years.  Ron and his family have enjoyed being active members of TSSB for the past five years, and he looks forward to his role as a President.  Ron and Stacy are excited to celebrate their daughter’s Bat Mitzvah in the coming year.

Jessica Hinkle
Jessica grew up in New York City but has called the South Bay home since 2002.  She lives in Hermosa Beach with her husband Paul and their three young daughters. Jessica is a Divisional Vice President in the Online Education division of Laureate Education, Inc.  She began attending TSSB for High Holiday services in 2008 and then brought her family to Tot Shabbat and they were hooked.  Two of her three children have attended religious school since Kindergarten and the youngest can't stand leaving her sisters at drop-off because she wants to go too!

Jon Hirshberg
Jonathan Hirshberg was born in Boston and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. He is married to Nicole Hirshberg and they have four kids, Jessica, 10, Tyler, 8, Madison, 6, and Scott, 2. Jon is the CEO/President of ENI-JR286, a licensing firm that specializes in manufacture  of sporting goods and accessories. Since starting the firm in 1998, the company has worked with many top brands such as Fila, Speedo, Under Armour, Crocs, K-Swiss, Red Bull, and other action sports companies.Jon is proud of his involvement with many charities around the world, including Livestrong, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation, Friendship Circle International, and the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Mike Kalan
Mike grew up in Pacific Palisades as a member of Kehillat Israel.  After working as a civil defense attorney for seven years, Mike became a math teacher and coach.  He has worked at a private school in Brentwood for thirteen years.  Mike and his wife, Debra, have lived in Manhattan Beach since 1995.  Both their daughter Rachel and their son Ryan have enjoyed TSSB religious school since kindergarten and in 2014 Rachel became a Bat Mitzvah.  Mike has served on the TSSB Education Committee for the past nine years.

Greg Klein
Greg and his family have been residents of Manhattan Beach since 1997. He founded and manages KleinPartners, which grows underperforming companies into successful organizations.  After 20 years of career dedication, he is proud to contribute to building TSSB’s long term success in the community.  Greg and his wife Kristine’s daughters, Carly and Taylor, both celebrated their b'not mitzvah at Temple Shalom.

Sam Newman
Sam Newman is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and a member of the Business Restructuring and Reorganization Group. Sam is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.  Prior to joining Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, Sam held political and fundraising positions with the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in Washington, DC and served in legislative and policy positions for Senator John Glenn (OH) and Representatives Gary Ackerman (NY) and Rob Andrews (NJ).  Sam lives in Manhattan Beach, California with his wife, Katja, and their children Jakob and Max.

Paul Reiner
Paul and his family moved from the East Coast to Hermosa Beach in 2008 and immediately found in Temple Shalom a welcoming local community of social oriented reform Jews.   Paul’s children have attended TSSB religious school for the past three years and his daughter, Hayley, recently celebrated her b’nai mitzvah.  After spending his first 10 years as a corporate lawyer, Paul has spent the past 10+ years as a corporate strategist helping consumer and retail companies accelerate their growth. 

Carol Risher
Carol moved to California from Washington, D.C., where she served on the boards of both her synagogue and the Jewish Community Center.  Soon after arriving in the L.A. area in 2001, Carol became involved with the South Bay Jewish community, producing the South Bay Jewish Music Festival featuring local cantors.  Carol is striving to create an environment wherein Temple members become friends and family to one another for all life cycle events.  She served as President of TSSB from 2008-2010. Carol also loves racing on a 40' sailboat and attending the theater.

Mike Rosenberg
Mike has lived in Manhattan Beach for 20 years, and has been involved with TSSB since its inception.  He is currently the CEO of Intrepid Investment Bankers, LLC, a merger and acquisition advisory firm.  He has an extensive background in business and finance and has served on the boards and executive committees of several charitable and civic organizations, including the United Jewish Fund, Jewish Vocational Services, and West Coast Sports Associates.  His youngest son, Max, is enrolled in the religious school, while the his older sons both celebrated b'nai mitzvah at Temple Shalom.

Molly Skyar
Molly Skyar grew up in Colorado and moved to Redondo Beach from New York almost 5 years ago with her husband and two young children. She spent her early career as a recruiter for creative and design talent for large retail and design companies in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles. After her second baby arrived, she left the corporate world to launch "
ConversationsWithMyMother.com" –an online resource that gives practical parenting tips and psychological insight into child-rearing. Molly joined Temple Shalom in 2012. Her oldest child is currently enrolled in the religious school. ​

Andrew Sloves
Andrew has lived in the South Bay for 20 years.  He and his wife have three children, the oldest of whom celebrated her Bat Mitzvah at TSSB.  Andrew joined the board in 2007, hoping to help TSSB thrive and continue to create a unique Jewish experience in our community.  He has been at JP Morgan for the past 20 years, where he is a Managing Director and heads the L.A. fixed income sales force.

Julie Spangler
Julie, a native New Yorker grew up attending a large Conservative Jewish synagogue.  She moved to LA in 1996 with little intention of making a permanent home here.  She quickly found herself with a great studio job, within a few years met her husband Stu and along with their two beautiful children, now fully embraces the South Bay lifestyle.  Julie has served on the TSSB Education Committee for 4 years and as co-chair for the last two years.  As a member of the Board Julie hopes to bring her experience from a career in brand strategy to help develop a long-term vision for Temple Shalom. Julie is an active member of various organizations related to congenital heart disease and serves as Ambassador for the Adult Congenital Heart Association.
